About Dr Gemma Wheeler
I am a GDC Registered Dentist, based in the UK. I am a healthcare writer, educator, and clinical consultant with over a decade of experience in a wide variety of settings - independent and corporate; private, NHS, and military; domiciliary and prison dentistry.
My writing and communications work is influenced by my clinical practice. I enjoy taking complex clinical information, understanding the evidence behind it, and translating it into something useful to the person who actually needs it. That person could be a patient, a colleague or dental student, a healthcare professional outside of dentistry, a business, or a wider organisation.
I continue to work clinically alongside my communications and consultancy work, as well as studying for a postgraduate qualification. This keeps my perspective grounded in contemporary dental practice and real world application. I am fully aware of the real questions, decisions, and challenges encountered by patients and dental professionals.
